CyFun, short for CyberFundamentals Framework, is a cybersecurity framework developed by the Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB). It was designed to help organisations assess their level of cybersecurity and implement practical measures to better protect themselves against cyber threats.
The principle behind CyFun is to provide a structured and progressive approach. Rather than treating cybersecurity as a series of separate technical solutions, the framework brings together a range of measures that enable an organisation to build consistent and effective protection.
These measures cover areas such as access management, data protection, backups, security updates, incident detection and the ability to respond to a cyberattack.

CyFun includes several assurance levels, allowing organisations to adapt the measures they implement to their risk profile. An SME with a relatively simple infrastructure, for example, will not necessarily have the same needs as a large organisation managing highly critical systems.
The framework is also an important tool in the context of the NIS2 Directive in Belgium. The CyberFundamentals Framework can notably be used by certain organisations within the scope of NIS2 to structure and demonstrate the implementation of appropriate cybersecurity measures.
