In 2000, when the web was still in its infancy and cybersecurity barely emerging as a discipline, Grégorio Matias founded MCG (Matias Consulting Group) with a clear conviction: IT should serve businesses — not the other way around.
In 2000, when the web was taking its first steps and cybersecurity was still in its early days, Grégorio Matias founded MCG (Matias Consulting Group) with a strong belief: technology must serve businesses, not constrain them.
At the time, the idea was bold: to create a company capable of supporting organizations in the design, deployment, and security of their IT infrastructures, while remaining closely connected to real-world operational needs. Twenty-five years later, MCG has become a leading Belgian cybersecurity player, driven by steady growth, recognized expertise, and a vision firmly focused on the future.
From Brussels to Wavre, and later to Louvain-la-Neuve — where the company settled in 2013 in Belgium’s very first Smart Building — MCG has continuously evolved alongside major economic and technological transformations. This intelligent building, fully secured and equipped with advanced building automation tools, perfectly embodies MCG’s philosophy: innovation as a driver, security as a foundation.
Since then, the numbers speak for themselves. Revenue grew from €1.6 million in 2013 to €4.5 million in 2024, with an average annual growth of 20% since 2020. A remarkable performance in a highly competitive sector where constant adaptation is essential.
Beyond the figures lies a deeply human story: that of a passionate team, a human-sized company, and a founder who has always placed training and talent development at the heart of the strategy.
“Finding well-trained employees who are immediately ready to work exactly as we expect is extremely difficult. That’s why we provide tailored training for every new recruit. (…)
Twenty-five years for an SME in this sector is no small achievement. A lot has happened. To reach where we are today, we had to be resilient — both economically and technologically. Resilience is a concept we know very well in the world of cybersecurity!”
Grégorio Matias, Founder & CEO of MCG
MCG’s history is inseparable from the evolution of the digital world. Over the years, the company has navigated major industry shifts: the explosion of the internet in the early 2000s, the widespread adoption of smartphones, the rise of cloud computing, economic and health crises, and today, the rapid acceleration of artificial intelligence.
Each period brought its own challenges. In 2009, the global financial crisis slowed the economy — yet MCG continued to grow. During the Covid-19 crisis, while much of the world came to a standstill, the opposite happened for the company: the widespread adoption of remote work and increased digital dependency made cybersecurity a critical business issue.
“In times of crisis, we grow,” explains Grégorio Matias — a statement that perfectly illustrates MCG’s ability to turn challenges into opportunities.
In 2015, MCG entered into a strategic partnership with Check Point, one of the world’s leading cybersecurity solution providers. Ten years later, this collaboration was honored with a special award: “Trusted Partner of the Decade (2015–2025)”, recognizing the company’s consistency and reliability over time.
MCG’s approach is built on a 360° model, summarized by its A.D.M. framework:
Analyze — Auditing and designing secure IT infrastructures tailored to each client’s business reality.
Deploy — Implementing robust, sustainable solutions designed to last.
Maintain — Providing support, maintenance, and continuous training to ensure long-term resilience.
This methodology is far more than a slogan. It shapes MCG’s daily operations and explains the lasting trust built with numerous SMEs, institutions, and industrial players. It also reflects a deep-rooted belief: cybersecurity is not just about technology — it is above all about method, people, and corporate culture.
Never before has cybersecurity been so strategic. In Belgium, the average number of weekly cyberattacks per organization has doubled in five years, rising from around 650 to more than 1,200 attacks, according to Check Point data. Cybercriminals are faster, stealthier, and increasingly organized. SMEs, often less well-equipped, are prime targets.
For years, MCG has advocated for collective awareness. A cyberattack is not limited to data loss: it can damage reputation, disrupt business continuity, and sometimes threaten a company’s very survival. That is why MCG invests heavily in prevention, training, and awareness.
For MCG, effective protection rests on three pillars: visibility, responsiveness, and resilience.
Beyond its commercial activities, MCG actively contributes to the Belgian cybersecurity ecosystem: participation in Cyber Made in Belgium (CMIB) working groups within Agoria, involvement in Cyber4Industry (a joint venture dedicated to industrial cybersecurity), and engagement with The POD, a key driver of the digital ecosystem in Walloon Brabant. A concrete commitment to building a resilient, competitive, and digitally advanced Wallonia.
Today, MCG consists of 14 employees: a close-knit, agile, and passionate team. Above all, it is a company that looks to the future with both clarity and optimism. The challenges ahead are significant: data explosion, the integration of AI in both attack and defense systems, regulatory requirements (notably NIS2), and the growing need for highly specialized profiles.
In this context, MCG intends to continue its development with the same philosophy that guided its early days: continuous self-questioning, relentless innovation, and unwavering loyalty to its core values — integrity, commitment, respect, and collaboration.
“Cybersecurity is not a project that ends once completed. It is a continuous improvement process — a journey we must walk every day, together, to protect what matters most: trust.”
Grégorio Matias
After 25 years of history, challenges overcome, and shared successes, MCG celebrates its anniversary with the confidence of a solid company — and the energy of one that is far from finished writing its story.
